Hurricane Helene Make-Up Days Announced

Dear District Six Families,

We are reaching out to provide communication regarding make-up days for the extended school closures caused by Hurricane Helene. As you are aware, based on weather conditions and power outages, District Six students missed a total of six instructional days: September 30, October 1-4 and October 7.

State law requires us to build three make-up days into our calendar. Legislators are still discussing whether local school boards will be allowed to forgive the remaining days due to the rare and extreme conditions our community experienced. The following make-up days were already built into our school calendar and will now be used:

✔️ February 14 – E-Learning Day (previously a staff development day)

✔️ March 14 – E-Learning Day (previously a staff development day)

The third make-up day is still being determined and will be communicated as soon as a decision is made. We understand that adjusting the calendar is not ideal and that families may have prior commitments on the scheduled make-up days. As always, we truly appreciate your understanding and continued support.
