After careful consideration, District Six schools will remain closed on Monday, October 7. While we are encouraged by the progress being made in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, many challenges still prevent a safe return to school. Several of our buildings remain without power, a number of major traffic lights in the area are non-operational, and clean-up efforts are ongoing throughout the district. Many of our family’s homes are still without power and internet service, so there will be no e-learning expectations for students.
We remain hopeful that conditions in our community will continue to improve allowing us to return to a normal schedule soon. District Six will continue to run bus routes and monitor storm restoration efforts. A decision regarding Tuesday’s schedule will be made and announced onMonday afternoon. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
