As we continue to recover from the effects of Tropical Storm Helene, District Six schools will remain closed for the remainder of the week. Despite our teams working tirelessly to assess and repair damages, 16 of our schools and many homes in our district are still without power. Road conditions remain impassible due to fallen trees and downed power lines, preventing safe school bus operations. There will also be no school activities until further notice.
We understand the struggles our community is facing during this time. With many still without the necessary resources needed to complete schoolwork, there will be no e-learning expectations. We cannot wait to reopen our schools and help bring some sense of normalcy back to our students’ lives.
District Six would also like to express our gratitude to the first responders, utility crews, and all those who are working around the clock to help restore power, clear roads, and assist those in need. Their dedication is a vital part of our community’s recovery and we are incredibly thankful for their efforts.
We will continue to keep you informed of any further developments. Thank you for your continued patience as we navigate this difficult time together.
