As District Six prepares for the upcoming school year, we would like to provide information regarding breakfast and lunch costs. The USDA provided federally funded school meals to all students through the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, Congress did not extend this waiver for the 2022-2023 school year. Free and reduced meals will now only be provided for students who apply and qualify. So you need to be aware of the following:
- In order to receive Free or Reduced Price Meals, you mustcomplete a Free and Reduced Meal Application. The simplest way to do this is by going to https://www.lunchapplication.com/. Children attending Community Eligibility Program schools (CEP) automatically qualify for the free meal benefit. Those schools are Lone Oak, Arcadia, Fairforest Middle School, and Woodland Heights.
- Applications should be completed as soon as possible to avoid meals being charged to your account. Parents must pay for any meals charged, prior to your filling out the application and being approved.
- In order to qualify for the summer 2022 P-EBT (Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer) benefit of $391.00 per qualified child, you must submit your 2022/2023 Free and Reduced Meal Application by August 16, 2022. This benefit will be loaded onto an EBT card, and can be used for grocery purchases. Benefits for newly eligible children will be paid in October 2022.
Hard copies of meal applications are also being mailed to District Six families who prefer to fill those out and return them to their child's school. Should the USDA make any adjustments, we will keep you informed.
Lunch prices for the 2022-2023 school year are:
$2.65 Elementary
$2.75 Middle
$2.85 High
$3.25 Premium
Breakfast is $1.75
